Regatta style boat racing – Mirissa
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: A privately organized regatta in the south of Sri Lanka is a thrilling experience for both the seasoned sailor as well as the novice. Boats used are the ‘Minibee 6.50’, a model of sailing boats 100% manufactured in Sri Lanka and built by a spinoff of ‘Building A Future Foundation’, which is the island’s leading sail boat manufacturer. The experience is perfect for a private trip with friends or for a small incentive group.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Globally well known as a sport highlighting performance, team spirit and innovation, sailing is an excellent sport for group activities like team building and company events. The experience is a full day one and take place in the morning with an introduction to sailing in Sri Lanka, safety and a brief of the day’s activities. The day will have two to three races which begin around noon time. A RIB speedboat will be available at all times with a backup team in the event of breakdowns. The Mini-bee’s perfect outline and complete set of sails, allows you to discover a new sensation of gliding and freedom. The deck layout is optimized for sailing in a tropical climate. The simplified design allows fast learning while preserving each important setting. You quickly understand how to use a sailing boat and will be able to move to larger vessels. The day includes refreshments, lunch and a prize giving ceremony at the end.
Includes: Training and a personal instructor on board the boat at all times. Safety gear and instruction. Refreshments. RIB assistance in case of seasickness and the safety and wellbeing of participants. Life Jacket, water, towel and shower facilities.
Duration: Full Day.
Suitable for children: This would be suitable for teenagers from the age of 16 and above.
Times: 9am to 3pm.
What to wear or bring along: Light cool clothing, swimsuit, a change of clothes, a cap, sunscreen.
Important to Know Alcoholic beverages are not served during the experience. Any dietary restrictions should be mentioned to SLIS in advance.
