Sundown cruise on a luxury yacht – Mirissa
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The azure waters just off the coast of Mirissa teem with dolphins, whales, and tropical fish and at the bustling Mirissa Harbor a wide range of boats set sail for the seas each day to take guests out into the big blue. Few boats at the harbor, however, can compare to ‘Miss Elle,’ a 33ft flybridge yacht equipped with its own dining cabin, viewing deck, salon lounge and toilet. By day the yacht is the ideal vessel for whale watching, by night it turns into the perfect romantic setting or group party atmosphere for a private sundown cruise. It’s unlikely you’ll see whales at these shallow depths, but the odd dolphin might swim past to say hi!
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION: Arrive at 5pm and be greeted by your own private group of staff who will invite you on to the boat and give you a welcome drink and a quick safety chat. You will need to put on a lifejacket as you leave the harbor due to government regulations but this can be removed once you are out on the ocean. You will make your way out towards the horizon, and then at around 6pm the magic happens. Sri Lanka’s southern sunsets are known for their beauty. Sometimes the skies are dip dyed in pretty pinks and deep hues of lilac and purple; occasionally the sun will drop behind clouds and illuminate the horizon in orange, amber, and citron yellow. Open up a beer and nibble on some delicious canapes as you take in the sheer beauty of the Indian Ocean at dusk and then sail slowly back to the harbor as it becomes dark, enjoying a few last drinks on the deck before you return.
