Gal Oya Lodge practices a brand of high-end, environmentally responsible tourism – each of its eight bungalows have been is constructed from locally sourced natural materials. Spread across 20 acres of private forest, it’s the ideal place to get back to nature.
Having chosen the area of Gal Oya National Park, the Lodge is strategically placed for guests who want to make the most of boat safaris over Sri Lanka’s largest reservoir. Four protected areas and 63,000 hectares of land are connected in this National Park.
Sightings of a resident elephant herd are frequent throughout the year, and the real magic lies in seeing them swim between islands. Other inhabitants include Axis Deer, Muntjac, Water Buffalo, Sambar, Leopard, Toque Monkey, Wild Boar, Mugger Crocodile and Star Tortoise. Gal Oya is also home to over a 150 species of birds and rare medicinal plants used in Ayurveda medicine.

Connecting both bedrooms is a spacious 680 sqft open plan living room, great for reading and doing nothing while enjoying the sound of nature. A verandah wraps itself around each bedroom offering wide views over the canopy for romantic sunrises and sunsets.
