Is this trip for you?
If you are looking to relax, do yoga each day and see some of Sri Lanka’s highlights, then this trip is for you.
|Visit the sacred city of Kandy||Whilst you are at the Samadhi Centre, you can take a full or half day and explore the sacred city of Kandy. Visit the Buddhist Temple of the Tooth at pooja time when pilgrims present flowers to the shrine; walk into the small devalayas in the town which represent the four gods that protect Kandy (Vishnu, Kataragama, Natha and Pattini); take a walk in Udawatakkele park (the king’s former sanctuary and also the abode of hermit monks); and enjoy lunch or afternoon tea in the beautiful Botanical Gardens.|
|Spend a day in the emerald tea country||Spend one of your days in the heart of the tea country, in either Nuwara Eliya or Hatton. Nuwara Eliya is 2 hours from Kandy and the drive is very scenic. Alternatively you can take the train to Hatton. We can organise a nice lunch for you in a plantation bungalow and then you can enjoy walking through tea estates, meeting friendly pluckers as you go. There are some stunning trails. Ask us. Visit a tea factory and learn how the world’s most popular beverage is produced…|
|Visit the UNESCO Heritage Site of Galle Fort||Enjoy a morning or afternoon walk around the ramparts of Galle Fort to see the famous divers jumping from the old flag bastion into a shallow pool of water below; to marvel at the Dutch cannon emplacements; to get lost in the warren of streets and meet the friendly locals as well as try some traditional Sri Lankan snacks or short-eats, which include spicy chickpeas and fresh pineapple pieces.|
After arriving in Sri Lanka, you will travel to Kandy in the central hills. Here you will spend your days at the peaceful Samadhi Centre doing yoga, meditation and receiving ayurvedic treatments, as well as exploring Kandy town and taking a day trip to the Tea Country if you like. From here you will travel down to Matara on the coconut tree fringed southern coast. Enjoy morning and afternoon yoga, as well as surfing, swimming and relaxing on the beach. There are many day trips you might like to do from here including a visit to Galle Fort. You are sure to head home feeling revived! …Find out more
The Samadhi Centre’s mantra is “to nurture the spirit and calm the mind”. The place weaves its magic on you from the moment you enter through the massive Kandyan doorway set into stone. Suri mama, the soft-spoken guardian of Samadhi and its Manager, will be there to greet you. The rooms are not luxurious but are in keeping with the very natural ethos of the place.
In contrast, Talalla Retreat is more modern in design with open plan rooms in two storey villas. The upstairs rooms have balconies with excellent views of the sea. The yoga space is also open and surrounded by coconut trees and the sound of tropical birds.
