The “Heavenly Maidens” of Sigiriya are painted in earth pigments on plaster and are often compared to the Ajanta cave paintings in India.

"Sri Lanka is a perfect romantic holiday destination as it has everything you can ask for, from culture, to the scenic hill country, national parks and sandy beaches. Combining these elements creates an unforgettable trip."Why is Sri Lanka such a romantic destination?
The natural beauty and diversity of the island, and the beautiful boutique hotels and villas. If you select the correct properties you are guaranteed to have a romantic holiday.Which itinerary would you recommend for honeymooners?
My personal favourite goes like this: 2 nights Vil Uyana – Forest Lodge, 2 nights Kandy House, 2 nights Tea Trails – Castlereagh Bungalow, 2 nights Leopard Safaris Yala, 4 nights Aditya – Surya Suite, 1 night - Park Street. I have selected room types that are perfect for honeymooners. The properties are luxurious & intimate. In your opinion, what is the most romantic hotel on the island?
The most romantic hotel would have to be Aditya, and in particular the Surya Suite there. It’s the perfect room type for a honeymoon couple.Top Tip?
Travel between December and April when the sea is perfect for swimming. For something special book a champagne breakfast or a scenic hot air balloon or helicopter ride.
Spending your honeymoon in Sri Lanka will not disappoint. Whether walking along shady paths admiring the ruins in the Cultural Triangle, enjoying high teas on the lawn of a stunning planter’s bungalow in the Tea Country or relaxing in the sun on a remote and unspoilt beach, there is no doubt that Sri Lanka is an excellent setting for a romantic trip or honeymoon. Activities such as taking a hot air balloon over the rock fortress of Sigiriya, one of the eighth wonders of the world, seeing blue whales rolling out of the sea off Mirissa and spotting a leopard asleep in a tree in Yala National Park, are memorable moments worth sharing with a loved one.
Sri Lanka is an attractive honeymoon destination because of its selection of luxury hotels, its golden beaches and romantic landscapes.
Part of a honeymoon in Sri Lanka can include travelling by seaplane or helicopter. By flying you get a real sense of the beauty and diversity of the island. It is incredibly romantic to land on Castlereagh Lake in the Tea Country, close to the Tea Trails bungalows or on Koggala Lake just in front of the Indian Ocean, close to Galle.
The magic of a honeymoon in Sri Lanka is in the details – the fresh flowers that decorate rooms, the friendliness of the people, the hot air balloon and elephant rides, the candle-lit dinners and the spectacular scenery.
