Why The Frangipani Tree?

With its selection of beautifully designed rooms that afford guests both simplistic luxury and abundant space, The Frangipani Tree is a highly sought-after beach property just 15 minutes from the historic heritage city of Galle. Designed by the talented architect Channa Daswatte, a protégé of the late Geoffrey Bawa, the property is divided into four free-standing villas, each of which is named after one of Sri Lanka’s endangered marine turtle species. While the property benefits from a wide sandy beach frontage with sweeping ocean views, a grassy bank ensures privacy from anyone happening to ply this very quiet stretch of palm-shaded beach.

Characterised by sweeping verandahs, hidden courtyards and intimate private gardens, The Frangipani Tree’s design features all of the architectural ingredients desirable for contemporary beach living; high airy ceilings, polished cement floors and white-washed walls. For added luxury a 35ft elongated lap pool has been added to the centre of the grassy, the frangipani tree-flecked garden while each suite is sumptuously though simply furnished with custom-designed furniture and built-in sofa beds softened by brightly coloured retro-striped cushions. En-suite bathrooms feature every modern luxury in a very natural setting.

The Frangipani Tree languishes in plenty of space and so for the active, guests can even play a leisurely game of tennis on the hard court without disturbing anyone else. For those less inclined to expend their energies the pool is a tranquil place to while away the sunshine hours of the day while the beach offers opportunities for sunset strolls. As the light fades from the sky and darkness falls, all thoughts turn to the prospect of lavish dinners served al-fresco on the verandah, under the stars. And instead of returning straight away to your lavish suite after taking your fill, why not enjoy a nightcap curled up in the lounge whilst watching a movie projected onto the wall as the sea breeze gently lulls you closer to sleep.

Since both of the suites in Hawksbill and Leatherback villas are interconnecting, they are ideal for friends or families.
