The owner of Saffron and Blue is a keen art collector and this is evident throughout the house as colourful murals, paintings and prints from Sri Lanka and other Asian nations enliven the walls and set an inspirationally tasteful tone for whichever room they inhabit. Statues and artefacts further pique your interest and complement the classic-modern feel of the villa. Two of the upstairs bedrooms come with double jacuzzis situated on private balconies for romantic moonlit bubble baths, and there’s a cosy TV Room on an upper floor designed for movie nights, watching sports games or catching up on the news. A floating staircase- itself a work of art – leads to the upper floors from an expansive ground floor living area bedecked with cushioned seating that freely spills onto the emerald green lawn beyond.
Fragrant frangipani blossoms scatter the soft lawn of the garden beyond the villa whose lovely sky blue pool is superbly situated for luxuriously soaking in the sun’s warm rays.A poolside pavilion makes an ideal spot for sinking sunset cocktails and enjoyingalfresco starlit barbeques of which the staff are well versed in preparing. For more formal occasions, the big communal table in the villa’s sunken dining room beneath the rich orange Flying Elephant mural is a sociable setting for sampling the cook’s excellent repertoire of superb Sri Lankan cuisine.
This fabulous four-bedroom villa boasting numerous living and dining areas, a garden and pool is available for exclusive bookings only.

The kitchen is also yours to enjoy so you can create your own favourite dishes. The local supermarkets stock simple produce as opposed to imported goods so if you hanker after European cheese, cured meats, sausages and prime cuts then you would need to buy these from Colombo on your way from the airport. All meals are prepared at cost price so you need only make sure that the staff have a good float so they can do the daily shopping. A chat with the manager every morning about your preferences will ensure that they prepare your meals to your liking and at the time of your choosing every day. The villa doesn’t sell alcohol, however you can bring this with you from the airport or buy from the local liquor shops in the nearby village of Kosgoda. The staff can also do all the purchasing on your behalf.
