The villa is a transformation of a local beach bungalow, and many aspects of the property’s original footprint remain the same. Interior walls were removed to make the rooms larger, and skylights added to flood the interiors with light. Flushes of colour – amongst the soft furnishings and vibrant local artwork – offset the white, neutral shades of the light and airy interiors. Each of the bedrooms, the living room, the kitchen and the dining areas all open directly via louvered folding doors onto a sea view veranda topped with a slatted timber pergola-style roof that provides welcome shade. This veranda runs parallel to a long lap pool that’s an exceptional addition to the property as it provides a refreshing transition from the living areas of the house to the lush green palm-spiked garden beyond.
Playing a constant background melody to your stay is the sea that can be subtly peeped at through a natural screen of coastal vegetation that shrouds the property in privacy. For closer gazes of the sea there are little pathways leading directly to the beach with a double chair placed in amongst the greenery to make the most of the exceptional oceanic scenes; just perfect at the end of the day when the sun descends into a fiery mass into the sea. The staff are well versed in ensuring that guests have everything they need, and more; from their morning bed tea, if desired, to afternoon pancakes, cocktails at sunset and after dinner nightcaps. Rates include all meals, soft drinks, snacks and bites.
The villa can only be booked in its entirety for maximum exclusivity. The four bedrooms – three doubles and a twin – living room, contemporary glass-edged dining room, furnished verandas, 20m swimming pool and lush garden are all yours to enjoy alone.

On booking, Jennifer will liaise with you about creating bespoke menus for your entire stay so that you can sit back whilst there and enjoy the wonderful food on offer without having to think too much about every meal. Favourite dishes and flavours are taken into account so if there’s something that you’ve loved then you could, if you liked, have it infused for every meal; everything is flexible. Sri Lankan lunches and dinners are typically served tapas-style with a number of dishes so that you can pick and choose. BBQs are popular options and often the best way to enjoy sampling some of the amazing fresh fish and seafood that’s found in abundance in this coastal locale.
The villa doesn’t sell alcohol so its best if you bring a few bottles with you from the airport duty free, or in Colombo as you pass through. The staff can also go on your behalf to the local wine stores to buy liquor at cost price, or accompany you on a visit so that you can select your own. You don’t need to worry about buying chasers and soft drinks as they are all included in the nightly rate.
