Conquer two of Sri Lanka’s canyons, concealed in the foothills around Kithulgala, and try a range of other exhilarating outdoor pursuits during this three-night action-packed adventure. This experience is run by Borderlands, a long-standing adventure activities company that meets international safety standards. Stay in a rustic yet comfortable lodge in the main Borderlands campsite then spend two nights camping in a remote location along the Kelani river.

Experience Overview

Day 1: Kick off this three-night adventure with a white-knuckle white-water rafting experience on the grade 2 and grade 3 rapids of the Kelani river. You will be given a full briefing and all necessary safety equipment by the experienced guides at Borderlands. Afterwards, return to camp for a relaxed evening with dinner by the bonfire and a restful night in your open-sided room. Day 2: This morning, drive to the first canyon in a 4x4, enjoying the spectacular scenery en route. After another safety briefing and once you’re all kitted out, get stuck in: enjoy exhilarating natural water slides; jump or zipline between the sections, and climb and abseil on the rocks. In the middle of it all, enjoy a delicious picnic lunch in your beautiful surroundings. Tonight, you have the choice of heading back to base camp or staying in a tent along the river – we recommend doing the latter. Day 3: Begin with a hike to your next canyon, a moderately challenging trek which, after an initial steep climb, takes you through villages, forest and plantations. Your canyoning adventure today is largely abseiling, and the views are extraordinary. Follow this with a late lunch at camp, and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Day 4: Depart after breakfast.

Water shoes (essential), activewear, bathing suit, insect repellent.

You will need to sign a disclaimer before doing these activities as there are risks involved. Borderlands and the guides that work there meet the highest international safety standards. Those with vertigo will find some of this experience challenging. Minimum age limit: 12 years.
