Scenic guided bicycle trails

Back Back

Bike through Galle’s beautiful surrounding countryside. Lush green paddy fields, electric blue kingfishers, brilliant white egrets, big buffalo, village life, tea, rice, temples, smiles, views, spices, fresh fruit, meandering paths, all natural Sri Lanka.

Experience Overview

The Paddy Trail which is a must-do for bike enthusiasts is a gentle 12km loop starting and finishing at our base near Wijaya Beach and passing through verdant paddy valleys with a half way coconut stop in a shaded ambalama set in a beautiful, large and natural garden. No rush, take it at your own pace, but as a guide allow around 1 ½ hours. The Paddy and Lake Trail is an extended version of the Paddy Trail of approximately 26km which includes a beautiful section cycling alongside the North West shoreline of Koggala Lake. The ride is suitable for keen and regular cyclists. The Kahanda Kanda (KK) Ride, includes a stop at the decidedly decadent hotel set on a hill surrounded by tea just north of Koggala Lake. Either a morning cycle ride from the beach to KK for a leisurely and luscious lunch, or alternatively a post lunch afternoon cycle from there to the beach in time for a sumptuous sea bath and a sunset cocktail are the rides on offer. The quiet route is approximately 15km in length and skirts Koggala Lake as well as passing through paddy fields. Managing Expectations

It is important to remember that, whilst they are experts in their field, the people who run or host our experiences are not necessarily used to working in the tourism industry and may not offer the level of service you would find at a five-star hotel. For example, instead of a formal lecture, you may get a relaxed conversation where open discussion is encouraged. All of our hosts are, however, extremely engaging, knowledgeable and passionate about educating visitors about their chosen subject and we have worked with them to ensure that they deliver worthwhile, fulfilling experiences. We welcome feedback, so please let us know what you thought and if you think any improvements could be made to the experiences we offer.
