Perched on a hilltop, a stone’s throw away from the UNESCO heritage site of Galle Fort, Villa Templeberg is a 150 year old classic Dutch colonial manor house situated on a sprawling five acre coconut plantation with an inviting 30 meter infinity pool.
Established in 1864, the villa pays respect to its Dutch colonial past with statement antiques but also manages to reference modern day touches with a number of soft furnishings and pieces from the owner’s private collection, from travels through Scandinavia, South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand.
Ten staff members including a private cook, gardeners, housekeepers, house boys, private tuk-tuk drivers and masseurs are on hand to ensure any stay is memorable and enjoyable. They are all fluent in English, Swedish and Sinhala.
Main House Rooms
The four bedrooms in the Main House are furnished with either single or double four-poster beds fitted with mosquito nets and have ensuite bathrooms. The rooms do not have air-conditioning but have fans and cooling units to keep the rooms comfortable.
Set away from the main house, this two bedroom cottage opens to a veranda and share a bathroom. It is ideal for family of friends.
Things to do ?
Templeberg prides itself on being a secret, serene and laid back location, where guests are treated to fresh king coconut harvested daily from the estate, and tailored services such as afternoon teas on the lawn, cooking classes with Trixie, the in-house cook whose cooking is fantastic.
Just for the kids
Templeberg welcomes children of all ages. Children under the age of three, if sleeping with their parents, stay free. All other children are charged the daily room rate or are included in the overall villa rental rate.
