Mesmerising tea hills surrounding Adam’s Peak.

Experiences in Hatton

Back Back

This area is ideal for taking long walks and bike rides: endless trails lead between the tea plantations and small villages, weaving up and down through the cool, lush landscape, and the magnificent Castlereagh Lake is a beautiful area to walk or cycle round. Those staying at Ceylon Tea Trails – Castlereagh can even sail across the lake. Keen walkers should go on the fairly strenuous five hour hike to the top of Adam’s Peak, a widely revered mountain peak which is significant to all four main religious groups in Sri Lanka. Begin the climb in the night and get to the summit in time to watch one of the most spectacular sunrises in Asia – the views are unforgettable.

If you have a few days to spend in the area and you fancy venturing out of the tea plantations, then head to Kithulgala for some white-water rafting. This is a great activity to do with older children or a group of friends.
