Sri Lanka reopens for international tourists

Back Back

We are delighted to announce that Sri Lanka reopened for international tourists on 21st January 2021.

Sri Lanka Tourism, in conjunction with the Ministry of Health, have put in place a series of procedures to ensure the safety of both travelers and residents as tourism resumes. Whilst there are certain restrictions in place, every effort has been made to ensure that travelers can still have an enjoyable experience in Sri Lanka.

With this in mind, there is no compulsory quarantine period – as long as your PCR test results are negative you are able to move between a variety of hotels, including luxurious tea bungalows and boutique beach properties, and visit key tourist sites during your stay, as long as you are using a private vehicle operated by one of our licensed chauffeur-guides.

Fully-vaccinated travelers must only stay in level 1 ‘Safe and Secure’ hotels for the first night, following which they can move around Sri Lanka freely – providing their on-arrival PCR test result is negative. Non-vaccinated travelers can enjoy the same freedoms after 14 days, again dependent on negative PCR test results.

We have summarised the new guidelines for tourists into one document, outlining the new pre-arrival protocols as well as the measures that will apply to your flights and your trip. You can find this document here. Sri Lanka Tourism have also released a useful video which shows the new procedures for Sri Lanka holidays, from the point of arrival to the moment of departure.

We know that some of you will want to plan your SriLankaInStyle holiday for a later time when there are fewer health & safety measures in place, or when we can confidently expect that the situation will be back to normal. Our special cancellation policy covers travel dates up to mid-2022 and allows you to refund or adjust your itinerary without any additional charges in the run up to your trip.

Our tours have been certified as ‘Safe and Secure’ by the Sri Lanka Tourist Development Authority, and you can trust that we will be prioritizing your safety at every stage of your holiday.

Get in touch with us via [email protected] if you have any questions or to start planning your Sri Lanka trip. You can also find useful information in the blogs section of our website.

We will continue to update you as and when we receive information, and we cannot wait to welcome you and your friends and family to Sri Lanka soon. Until then, stay safe and well!
